The 33-year-old has been playing in Indonesia with a team named Persib for the past five months, but the ex-England international is yet to find the back of the net.
Cole penned a one-year contract at the club but according to Sky Sports, club manager Umuh Muchtar has decided to get rid of Cole less than halfway through the deal due to his performances not being up to scratch.
Muchtar said: “It’s the management’s decision to dismiss him, we will have a new player in the second round of the season.
“He plays very badly compared to the other [foreign players] who have joined Persib. He had the worst performance.”
Cole spent almost 10 years as a West Ham striker before leaving the club back in 2015, when he signed for Celtic under Ronny Deila.
After failing to score a league goal in the Scottish Premiership, Cole was shown the Parkhead exit door not too long after, and he went on to play for American lower division side Sacramento Republic, before joining Persib.
To be fair to Cole, he’s never been the most prolific forward in the world, so what did the Persib hierarchy think they were getting?!
