FAST FORWARD
It’s Saturday the 19th of August and the world of boxing, over the next few weeks, is about to serve up some of the most intriguing water cooler moments in water cooler history. Over in Nebraska we start by making real sporting history as we have top level super lightweight action between Terence Crawford and Julius Indongo for the clean sweep – WBA, IBF, WBC and WBA belts. It’s the first time this has EVER happened at this weight and I will go for Crawford either by stoppage or a wide points win. Mind you, we all thought Ricky Burns would beat Indongo…
In my home town of Ayr on the same evening there is a BIBA bill (sounds catchy that) with welterweight Sammy Hill favoured to beat Michael Kelly for the PBC Celtic Silver title and middleweight George McIlroy looking likely in his fight with Will Cairns for the PBC international Silver title. We also have action on the undercard with super flyweight Andrew Cuthbert facing Chris Wong, super lightweight Nathan Beattie up against Marty Kayes, and cruiserweight Sandy Robb v Jamie Gelder. We expect wins for Cuthbert, on his debut, Beattie and Robb. Lightweight Leon Roberts is not facing Jason Nesbitt but Paul Peers instead and once again fortune should favour the home fighter of Roberts.
Also, tonight, at the home of Tranmere Rovers, in Birkenhead you can catch 9 fights including Sean Doss at lightweight against Antonio Horvatic.
BIBA also have a 5 fight bill tomorrow at Bradford.
