Last weekend on Saturday the 19th of August and in his home town of Nebraska super lightweight king of the world, Terence Crawford got crowned as he stopped Julius Indongo in the 4th round to collect the WBA, IBF, WBC and WBA belts. It was a brilliant counter punch to the body that simply floored Indongo. Crawford IS a superstar and this performance confirmed it as he showed how to deal with an awkward guy. Indongo gave him no trouble at all. Next us going up in weight and there are a lot of cracking fights there for him but you kinda also want him to defend all four of these titles at one point… don’t you?
On the same night and in my home town of Ayr there was a great BIBA bill which saw welterweight Sammy Hill beat Michael Kelly for the PBC Celtic Silver title as the top of the bill with a 2 points winning margin!
Local middleweight George McIlroy of Irvine looking likely in his fight with Will Cairns for the PBC international Silver title and got the win with a 4th round stoppage.
Super lightweight Nathan Beattie was up against Marty Kayes with Aberdeen’s Beattie getting the nod. Cruiserweight Sandy Robb from Irvine got a first round TKO against Jamie Gelder.
Finally, local lightweight Leon Roberts managed a four round points win over Paul Peers in what was an all out war.
