Hamilton have hit back at Aberdeen fans after a fan account on Twitter called them ‘tinpot’.
Accies were the visitors to Pittodrie yesterday for their Scottish Premiership season opener, going down 2-0 in a disappointing performance.
Martin Canning’s team made the long trip up north for the game, but at one stage it appeared the club’s fans hadn’t after numerous pictures were posted on social media showing the away section of the stadium lying virtually empty.
Aberdeen fan account Aberdeen Away Days on Twitter posted this alongside the hashtag ‘#hamiltinpot’:

And it caught the attention of Hamilton’s official Twitter account, who responded with this after the match:
It's a league based on results, not crowds. You can take the pic again now that our bus has arrived ? our fans small in number but loyal

So plenty of Accies fans did turn up, according to their Twitter team. It’s just a shame they couldn’t see their team get their season off to a winning start.
Derek McInnes’ men won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Anthony O’Connor and Miles Storey – banishing all memory of their disappointing Europa League exit in midweek.
