Patrick Roberts’ Brother Comments on the Manchester City Man’s Future

Patrick Roberts’ brother has commented on the Manchester City man’s future – but we’re not sure if it’s given any further hint of where he’ll be going.

The English wideman has been at the centre of arguably the biggest transfer story in Scottish football over the summer, with Celtic believed to be keen to bring him back to the club.

He spent 18 months with the Hoops, becoming a fans’ favourite as they won an unbeaten domestic treble last campaign.

But Roberts returned to City in the summer looking to prove himself to Pep Guardiola.

And after playing in a number of pre-season games, that looked like it was happening for the former Fulham man.

However, he wasn’t in City’s squad for their Premier League opener against Brighton at the weekend and it looks unlikely that he’ll be able to force his way in amongst the attacking talent Guardiola has in his ranks.

So, a move away from City seems most likely – and dailyrecord.co.uk say that Celtic want him, but his club would rather see him go out on loan to another Premier League team.

What does Roberts’ brother Adam think about that? He’s tweeted this afternoon:

We’re not quite sure what to make of that? Is he pouring cold water on Southampton being keen on the winger? Or is he hinting that his brother hasn’t told City that he wants to sign for Celtic?

Regardless, it’s no doubt another update that will torment Hoops fans who desperately want to see Roberts back in their colours this season.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are busy preparing for a crunch Champions League playoff tie with Astana, but it looks unlikely that Roberts will be signed to play any part in that.
