Lower-level teams rarely get the opportunity to get one over on Barcelona, however, that’s exactly what Segunda B side Burgos managed on social media this afternoon.
In the early hours of this morning, Barcelona’s official Twitter account appeared to confirm that the La Liga giants had completed a sensational deal to bring PSG winger Angel Di Maria to the Nou Camp.
However, the club’s social media team quickly squashed the story – revealing their account had been hacked and as such the ex-Real Madrid star wasn’t set to complete a switch.
While the news would have disappointed supporters, it was music to the ears of lower league team Burgos… who wasted no time in poking fun at Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Burgos hysterically claimed that Barca superstar Lionel Messi was on his way to the Estadio El Plantío, before posting a follow up message claiming they too had been “hacked”.
Vaya, está madrugada nuestro perfil ha sufrido un hackeo que ya ha sido controlado y neutralizado.
Disculpad las molestias. ? pic.twitter.com/ezU9NuuI5W— Burgos C.F. (@Burgos_CF) August 23, 2017
Translated, the post reads, “Well, this morning our profile has suffered a hack that has already been controlled and neutralised. Sorry for the inconvenience. ?”
A great effort!
