Aiden McGeady has recounted his rather odd and completely terrifying run-in with Spartak Moscow‘s ultra fan group – with a group of Russian thugs arriving at the club’s training ground packing guns.
McGeady has been taking a stroll down memory with his former Celtic youth team-mate Simon Ferry, in the latest instalment of his interview with Open Goal Sport.
As we’ve told you previously, the former Celtic winger has been reliving his career playing in for the Republic of Ireland, and in the Scottish Premiership, Premier League and in Russia.
And during his four-year stint in Moscow, McGeady found out the hard way what happens when the first-team goes through a rough patch.
From 3:00 in the clip above, the 31-year-old revealed some of Spartak’s star players were forced to pay thousands of dollars every month for being overweight, before describing his scary encounter.
The white-hot heat of the Old Firm can be intense, as can some of England’s biggest derby matches, but guns at the training ground? That’s pretty mental.
What do you make of the anecdotes?
