Video: Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso Scores Stunning Free-Kick v Spurs

Chelsea went into today’s crucial Premier League clash against Tottenham as the underdogs, but it wasn’t too long before Marcos Alonso reminded everybody of the talent within the Blues’ ranks.

Following last weekend’s defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte’s men went into this afternoon’s match at Wembley knowing they badly needed to put on something of a show, and despite the Italian fielding a very defensive line-up, they started very well.

Alvaro Morata missed a golden gilt-edged chance after just four minutes, but within the opening half-hour, Chelsea were ahead, and it was the brilliant left boot of Alonso who was responsible.

The season might only be several weeks old, but this will be in the running when the goal of the season is debated, surely?

Not a bad strike, eh?

He’s not always the most likely hero, but Alonso can definitely take a free-kick, eh?
