One of the most over-hyped and eagerly anticipated boxing matches of all-time, Mayweather never really looked out of his comfort zone during the bout inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and cruised to a tenth round TKO over the Irishman.
McGregor won the opening exchanges, but as the fight wore on, Mayweather’s experience and class told.
At the end of the fifth round, Floyd was seen giving his opponent a shove after the bell, and he’s now revealed exactly why he did that and what he said to McGregor.
Speaking during his post-fight press conference, via JOE, Mayweather said: “I said, ‘You still haven’t knocked me out? You said it wouldn’t go past four, when are you going to use your power?'”
To be fair, McGregor did say he’d knock Floyd out within four rounds – but fighters say a lot before the opening bells ring, eh?
What did you think of the fight in general? Did it live up to the big billing?
