Scotland defender Russell Martin has conceded he’s never played a professional game on astro turf ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.
Lithuania play on a plastic pitch, something which could come into play as Gordon Strachan’s side look to continue their good run of form.
And while Strachan admits those results have resulted in “added confidence” within his squad, Martin’s comments may be cause for concern within the Tartan Army.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s game, Norwich City defender Martin admitted if he gets the nod against Lithuania, it will be his 4G debut:
Martin’s admission comes after Newcastle United winger and Scotland team-mate Matt Ritchie admitted he’s never played a professional fixture on a plastic surface before either.
Meanwhile Scotland skipper Scott Brown has also raised concerns over the suitability of an astro turf pitch, claiming the surface leads to injuries.
So, Scotland fans, are you concerned about the pitch ahead of Friday’s game?
