Steven Gerrard says he was ‘lost’ playing at Celtic Park while he was a Liverpool star.

The now retired Englishman will have played at some of the biggest stadiums in the world during his illustrious career with the Reds and England.

But he includes Celtic Park as one of the best, admitting that he was lost for the first few minutes of Liverpool’s UEFA Cup clash against the Hoops back in 2003.

Liverpool managed to get away with a 1-1 draw in that game – before going on to lose the tie 3-1 in the second leg – but the atmosphere wasn’t easy for Gerrard.

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s Champions League playoff against Astana tonight, Gerrard said:

That was Gerrard’s only appearance against Celtic in Glasgow and by the sounds of that, he’d probably have liked more games there.

He’ll be watching his old manager Brendan Rodgers leading the Scottish champions tonight in a game they’ll most likely need to win if they’ve to have a chance of qualifying for the group stages.
