Video: Was Steven MacLean Lucky to Avoid Red Card For ‘Punch’ on Kieran Tierney?

Steven MacLean looks like he may have been lucky to avoid a red card during St Johnstone‘s draw with Celtic.

The Saints striker was involved in an incident with Kieran Tierney in the second half where he appeared to throw a punch at the full-back.

It’s a difficult one to see considering the angle of the camera and how far away it is from the incident.

Celtic fans appeared convinced that MacLean deserved to be sent off for his involvement – here’s just a few complaining on Twitter:

But what do you think? Should MacLean have been sent off?

This video makes a much better case for MacLean, showing that he actually swings his arm around to run away:

It was MacLean who got St Johnstone’s goal in the first half, taking advantage of some slack passing from the home team.

It looked like that could have been the goal to end Celtic’s unbeaten run as the visitors held the lead going into the final 10 minutes.

But Callum McGregor popped up with an equalising goal for the hosts and the match finished 1-1.
