Arsene Wenger Says €100M Move For Thomas Lemar Was True…And He’ll Bid Again

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed he made an astronomical £92 million bid for Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar on transfer deadline day – and the Gunners boss claims he’ll be bidding for him again in the future.

The 21-year-old winger is one of European football’s hottest properties at the moment, and Liverpool were also linked with with a big-money transfer during the summer window.

However, in the end, Lemar opted to stay put at Monaco, much to the frustration of some of the continent’s most well-known coaches – and especially Wenger.

Speaking to French television programme TeleFoot, via the Metro, the Frenchman said: “‘€100m (£92m) for Lemar? Yes all true, I wanted him.

“He decided to stay at Monaco. We will come back for him.”

The news that Wenger is speaking so openly and honestly about one of his transfer targets might surprise a lot of Arsenal supporter, particularly when you consider the huge numbers involved.

Would Lemar have even wanted to come to Arsenal when he could seemingly have his pick of European club?

What do you think?
