Bolton Fans Can’t Quite Believe They Are Set to Sign Ex-Real Madrid Star Julio Baptista

Julio Baptista is understood to be on the verge of signing for Championship side Bolton Wanderers this evening… and the club’s fans can’t quite believe it.

The Brazilian spent three seasons at Real Madrid from 2005 to 2008, before brief stints at Arsenal, AS Roma and Malaga.

Baptista also made 47 appearances for his national side, winning two Copa America titles and the Confederations Cup.

However, the 35-year-old most recently starred for Kaka’s Orlando City in the MLS, before being forced into free agency when his contract was declined at the end of last year.

And Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson is clearly keen to add the veteran to his dressing room as Bolton look to avoid a relegation battle from England’s second tier.

Not that anyone can quite fathom a former Brazil international and La Liga winner rolling up at the Macron Stadium:

Bolton earned promotion to the Championship last season, finishing second in League One behind champions Sheffield United.

Supporters will be hoping the addition of Baptista will strengthen their bid to stay in the division come May.
