Chelsea Fans Say Emotional Goodbye to Diego Costa After Atletico Move Confirmed

Chelsea fans have said an emotional goodbye to Diego Costa after his move to Atletico Madrid was confirmed.

The Spanish striker has been missing from the Stamford Bridge squad since being told by Antonio Conte in the summer that he was no longer wanted at the club.

It appeared a move away from Chelsea was a certainty, but the transfer deadline passed without any movement from Costa.

Not that Atletico could sign him anyway – they had a transfer ban during the summer and the earliest they can sign new players is in January.

But they’ve done a deal with Chelsea ahead of completing it at the start of next year and today it was confirmed that all parties had agreed terms.

Bring on the Blues tears:

The relationship between Costa and some Chelsea fans may have been soured by him not returning to the club in pre-season and some of his behaviour during his time at the club.

But there’s no doubting he was a success while a Chelsea player, scoring 59 goals in 120 appearances to help the club win two Premier League titles and a League Cup.
