Neymar Says Philippe Coutinho is Experiencing ‘Anguish, Disappointment & Sadness’

Neymar claims his international team-mate Philippe Coutinho is absolutely devastated after his proposed move to Barcelona failed to materialise.

Ironically, Barca targeted Coutinho to replace Neymar, who departed for PSG earlier this summer, but Liverpool refused to sell despite the Catalan club reportedly offering a mammoth £135 million.

The two attackers played in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Ecuador in their latest 2018 World Cup qualifier, with Coutinho scoring, and after the match Neymar claimed his pal is rather down in the dumps over how the transfer window played out.

Speaking via ESPN, Neymar said: “Unfortunately, instead of being a happy time for him [Coutinho], for his family, it’s a moment of anguish, disappointment and sadness.

“I like to see him happy because he is a teammate and a friend that I’ve had for a long time.

“He was rewarded with a goal today, for his and our joy.”

Coutinho became Liverpool’s best-paid player last season when he signed a new contract until 2022 on a wage thought to be worth around £150,000 per week.

Earning that kind of money whilst playing for a club like Liverpool, and having Barcelona chasing you? We’d be absolutely crushed at having to deal with all of that too!
