Peter Lovenkrands Admits He’s Still Watching His Scottish Cup Winning Goal vs Celtic

Peter Lovenkrands Admits He’s Still Watching His Scottish Cup Winning Goal vs Celtic

Peter Lovenkrands scored some important goals during his Rangers career, however, the pick of the bunch was surely his last-gasp winner against Celtic to win the Scottish Cup.

The ex-Denmark striker spent six years in Scotland, before winding down his playing days with Schalke, Newcastle United and Birmingham City.

And while the 37-year-old was well-liked by supporters of all the clubs he played for, it’s undeniable that Lovenkrands has always had the strongest connection with the Ibrox faithful.

So much so, that Lovenkrands has now admitted to having watched the highlights of the 2002 cup final a grand total of 1000 times.

And he’s surely not alone:

15 years ago at Hampden, John Hartson and Bobo Balde both got on the score sheet for Martin O’Neill’s side, while Lovenkrands and Barry Ferguson levelled proceedings for Rangers.

But when Neil McCann found Lovenkrands with a terrific cross in the final minute, there was no question which team would be lifting the famous trophy.
