Video: Billy Gilmour Doesn’t Score Tap-Ins

Billy Gilmour is making a habit of scoring long range belters for Chelsea‘s Under 18 team.

The former Rangers midfielder is only months into his career at Stamford Bridge, but he’s making quite the impact early on.

He scored against Arsenal two weeks ago, brilliantly firing home from the edge of the box in a comfortable victory.

His performance in that game led to a lot of praise from watching Blues fans and he’s followed it up with another impressive display as Jody Morris’ youth team beat Swansea 5-0 at the weekend.

Despite being a ball-playing midfielder and not necessarily a goal threat from deep, Gilmour scored the opener for Chelsea and it was quite the strike:

That it was quality from the 16-year-old Scot – and further evidence that he’s not joined Chelsea to make up the numbers.

He was one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football when he reached the fringes of the Rangers first team last season and it was the Premier League champions who managed to lure him away from Ibrox.

Hopefully Gilmour can kick on and actually make the breakthrough at Stamford Bridge against the odds.
