Ex-Celtic striker Henrik Larsson claims Neymar may have left Barcelona because he could never become “number one” at the Camp Nou.
Larsson’s former side take on Neymar’s new club PSG in tonight’s Champions League opener at Celtic Park.
And as you’d expect, most of the pre-match talk has centred on the most expensive player in the world… and what he could do if Brendan Rodgers’ side aren’t at their very best.

So, with Neymar’s name being the one on everyone’s lips, Larsson weighed in on the debate as to why the Brazil international decided to leave the Camp Nou for Paris this summer.
And according to the Celtic legend, Lionel Messi may have been to blame.
Larsson said, “I have to throw in another factor why he left Barcelona, because at Barcelona he was never to become number one.”
“Because you have Messi there, you have Suarez, so maybe going to PSG to be the main man, maybe that’s part of the reason.”
"The great Barcelona comeback was all about Neymar, and yet they still celebrated Messi…"

Larsson won four league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups during his six year spell with Celtic, before the Swede moved to Barcelona in 2004.
