Dele Alli may be one of the most talented players in the Premier League, but the Tottenham midfielder is being torn to pieces on social media this afternoon, following a horrendous attempt to win a penalty.
Spurs are currently 3-0 up against Huddersfield at the John Smith Stadium, with Harry Kane dominating proceedings having scored an early brace for the visitors.
And with the final half-hour being played at a training ground pace, Alli threw himself to the turf in a blatant attempt to con the referee into awarding a spot-kick:

Needless to say, Alli is been taking an lot of abuse on social media for his embarrassing dive:
Dele Alli is such a diving twat, it's so irritating because it clouds his footballing ability so heavily.

Dele Alli diving whilst Spurs are 3-0 up at Huddersfield. Shameful.

Dele Alli a wonderful talent but he really needs to cut out the simulation. Has enough skill to punish defences without resorting to diving.

if Dele Alli tried staying on his feet he'd do much better, that was the 3rd or 4th time he flung himself down, before he got booked

Ref got that exactly right. Dele Alli has all the gifts but he does dive and it infuriates me. Some fans may overlook it but it’s cheating.

Dele Alli is so good but he ruins it by being the biggest cheat in the premier league

Dele Alli horrid player, dirty cheat.

Unfortunately Alli does have previous for going to ground with little or no contact from an opposition player.
The England international was heavily criticised after his dive in 2016 won a penalty for Tottenham during a match against Swansea.
Former Premier League referee Graham Poll even went as far as to call for Alli to face retrospective punishment for his behaviour following the incident.
