Video: Dermot Gallagher Says Alfredo Morelos Tried to Play For Penalty v Celtic

Dermot Gallagher believes Alfredo Morelos tried to play for a penalty against Celtic at the weekend.

Brendan Rodgers’ side came away from Ibrox on Saturday with a 2-0 win after putting in a convincing performance.

And while there aren’t many Rangers fans disagreeing with the outcome of the game, some are still frustrated that their side didn’t get a penalty in the first half when Morelos was brought down in the box by Jozo Simunovic.

At first watch it looked like a penalty, but replays showed there was minimal contact between the two players.

And now Gallagher – a former English Premier League ref – has supported Craig Thomson’s decision not to give a penalty while speaking on Sky Sports this morning:

So Gallagher believes Morelos made the most of Simunovic moving his leg towards and then away from the ball.

Celtic went on to score twice through Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths, grabbing all three points to move eight ahead of their rivals in the Premiership table.

What’s your view? Was it a penalty?
