If Arsenal manage to beat West Brom then they’ll have Nacho Monreal to thank for it.

The headlines will no doubt go to Alexandre Lacazette as his double has the Gunners heading for a 2-0 win at the Emirates tonight.

The French striker headed home from inside the six-yard box for a first-half opener and has since followed that up with a goal from the penalty spot.

But things could have been much different had Jay Rodriguez’s goal-bound header actually hit the back of the net instead of being spectacularly cleared by Monreal:

Just how did he manage to get that away for a corner? It seemed certain that it’d hit the net or be directed back into the danger area for another West Brom player to tap home.

Instead, Arsenal kept their one-goal lead and have obviously went on to add to it.

The Gunners watched all of their main rivals win at the weekend and went into this game knowing they’d need three points so Arsene Wenger will be glad they’re on the way to getting them.
