Ryan Gauld appears to finally be making his mark on Portugal’s Liga NOS after scoring his first ever goal in the country’s top-flight this evening.
After breaking into the Dundee United first-team at the tender age of just 17, Gauld looked like an absolute world beater and it looked like Scotland might finally have a top-class talent on its hands.
In July 2014, Sporting CP came calling, and agreed to pay United £3 million for Gauld, how spent his first season playing mainly for the Lisbon side’s B-team.
After failing to make a mark on Sporting’s senior side, Gauld was loaned to league newcomers CD Aves during the summer transfer window, and the 21-year-old looks to be finally flourishing:

With his long hair and slightly more muscular physique, Gauld looks a far cry from the boy who left Tannadice several years ago.
Lets just hope he keeps the strong form up – we’d love to see him in the dark blue of Scotland soon!
