Spartak Moscow fans have been putting some effort into their stadium atmosphere during their Champions League group game with Liverpool tonight.
The Russian champions went into tonight’s game at the Otkrytiye Arena off the back of a 1-1 draw with Maribor in their opening match.
That would no doubt have disappointed them as they battle with the Slovenians to secure Europa League football next season by getting third place.
So a result tonight against Liverpool at home would be very welcome – and one Spartak would probably have fancied given the English Premier League side’s struggles of late.
If their players don’t end up good enough then the Spartak fans certainly can’t be accused of that as they put on a show in the early stages of the game.
They produced this outstanding tifo pre-match:

And they followed it up with another huge banner afterwards:

Fair to say they enjoyed seeing Fernando fire home a wonderful free-kick to open the scoring in the game:

Liverpool have now managed to equalise, Philippe Coutinho firing home after a neat one-two with Sadio Mane – and it’s set us up for a very entertaining second half in Moscow.
Let’s hope there are more brilliant scenes from the Spartak fans too.
