Video: Spurs Flop Vincent Janssen Scores on Fenerbahce Debut

He may have been an almighty flop at Tottenham but Vincent Janssen proved he still possesses the goal-scoring touch as he made his debut for Turkish giants Fenerbahce last night.

The Holland international was signed by Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the summer of 2016 for a fee of around £17 million from AZ, and the general idea was that Janssen would give Harry Kane a challenge for the club’s starting striker berth.

But things quickly went sour for Janssen in north London and he managed just two goals in the Premier League throughout his entire debut season in England.

During the most recent transfer window, Janssen was shipped out on-loan to Turkey, and if he’s looking to send a message to his paymasters at White Hart Lane then he definitely started in the right manner:

To be fair, scoring poacher’s goals like that is exactly why Pochettino bought him.

Maybe he’s found a level in the Turkish Super League that simply suits him a bit better.
