Steven Gerrard and Gary Lineker are obviously Kieran Tierney fans.

The English footballing legends formed part of BT Sport’s main punditry team for their coverage of the Champions League tonight and they shared their appreciation of the Celtic full-back after recapping highlights of the Scottish side’s 3-0 win against Anderlecht.

Leigh Griffiths got the Hoops on the scoresheet in the first half and it was Tierney who ran on to Olivier Ntcham’s pass to fire across goal for the striker to tap home.

And both Gerrard and Lineker spoke highly of the 20-year-old left back:

It’s hard to disagree with them given the consistency of Tierney’s performances against top teams domestically and in Europe.

His assist aside, the youngster was impressive again tonight as Celtic put Anderlecht to the sword.

It was billed as a match between the two teams likely to battle for third place and a Europa League spot after Christmas, but that looks wrapped up for the Hoops based on tonight’s display.

Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair got the other goals for Brendan Rodgers’ men on the night, completing a 3-0 victory that’s being heralded by all involved with the club.
