Andres Iniesta Signs Lifelong Contract Renewal at Barcelona

Andres Iniesta Signs Lifelong Contract Renewal at Barcelona

Andres Iniesta has been rewarded with a new contract at Barcelona this afternoon, however, the length of the deal is a little bit different than what we are used to.

The Spain international will  undoubtedly go down in history as one of the best players to ever pull on the Barcelona shirt, having won eight La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues and five Copa del Rey trophies.

In fact Iniesta’s success is so intertwined with the rich history at the Nou Camp now that it seems almost unfathomable that Blaugrana will one day line-up without the 33-year-old.

Luckily for the football purists though, that day isn’t on the horizon quite yet, with Iniesta signing a “lifelong” contract renewal today.

The La Liga giants confirmed the deal via their Twitter account, adding an epic montage of Iniesta’s best moments in a Barca jersey:

Speaking via the club’s official website, the World Cup winner said: “This is a very special day for me, simply because it means I’m staying at my home, where I can continue to dream of achieving great things for this club.

“It’s where I have grown and developed.”

He added, “It makes me very happy to know that the club has given me this opportunity.

“I have always been convinced of my love for Barça and I know that I could never be anywhere better then here.”

Barcelona are currently top of La Liga, seven points ahead of fifth placed champions, Real Madrid.

Is there anyone who currently plays for your team that you’d like to see being rewarded with a life-time contract?
