Billy Davies as Next Rangers Boss? Some Bookies Have Him Favourite

Billy Davies is the favourite to become the next Rangers manager, according to Ladbrokes.

The SPFL sponsors released their odds immediately after Pedro Caixinha’s exit from Ibrox was confirmed by the club this afternoon.

All the usual names are mentioned, including Derek McInnes, Alex McLeish and Tommy Wright.

But Davies is also top of the list, despite not having a club job since leaving Nottingham Forest in 2014.

This is the Ladbrokes list of candidates for the next Rangers boss:

9/2 Billy Davies
5/1 Alex McLeish
6/1 Graeme Murty
8/1 Derek McInnes
8/1 Kenny Miller
10/1 Tommy Wright
10/1 Dougie Freedman
10/1 Alan Irvine
12/1 Frank de Boer
14/1 Alan Pardew
16/1 Barry Ferguson
16/1 Ally McCoist
20/1 Dick Advocaat
20/1 Gennaro Gattuso
20/1 Stuart McCall
20/1 Ian Durrant
25/1 Kevin Muscat
25/1 Craig Moore
25/1 Giovanni van Bronckhorst
25/1 Shota Arveladze
33/1 Gordon Strachan
100/1 Paul Gascoigne

We’re not too sure about Paul Gascoigne being on that list at 100/1.

Davies probably wouldn’t be a popular choice with fans – and it’s unlikely he’d be a candidate for Dave King and the club’s board.

But his name being on the list will mean he’s continued to be linked until he either rules himself out or there’s a clearer indication of who the club prefer.

Caixinha was sacked this afternoon after drawing 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Ibrox last night – following up their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Motherwell in the Betfred Cup semi-final on Sunday.
