Brendan Rodgers is Among the Firm Favourites to be Chelsea’s Next Boss

Bookies have slashed odds on Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers on taking over as Chelsea manager, with current Blues boss Antonio Conte’s future looking increasingly uncertain.

Conte has openly spoke about his desire to return to Italy in recent weeks, and the club’s recent 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester City badly hurt their chances of retaining the Premier League title.

That has led to speculation that Roman Abramovich could be forced to find a replacement before the end of the season – and bookmakers seem to think Rodgers – who was previously a youth-team coach at Stamford Bridge – would be in the reckoning.

The Northern Irishman is less than one year into a four-year contract at Parkhead, but Paddy Power have him as third favourite to be the next permanent Chelsea boss at 8/1.

Ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel is the favourite at 2/1, whilst Germany manager Joachim Loew is next at 6/1.

Of course, a lot can change in the course of a few short weeks or months, and perhaps Rodgers wouldn’t want to go back to Chelsea.

But should Celtic fans brace themselves for big English clubs to come calling sooner rather than later?
