Liverpool and Southampton Fans Were Pretty Unimpressed with Virgil Van Dijk Today

Virgil van Dijk was in the Southampton starting line-up for today’s Premier League clash with Newcastle, but his lacklustre and languid display didn’t really impress fans watching at home.

The towering Dutch centre-back is still re-adjusting to playing at the very top level after eight months out injured recently – and he still doesn’t look totally settled after submitting a transfer request during the most recent transfer window.

Of course, van Dijk was chased by Liverpool, who were linked with a mammoth £60 million bid for the 26-year-old, but if Jurgen Klopp was watching today’s match, we’re not entirely sure he’d be so willing to part with so much cash.

Van Dijk didn’t look great for either Newcastle goal in the 2-2 draw and, frankly, he just didn’t look bothered about the outcome:
