The England international lost his regular starting berth to Roberto Firmino last season, and spent much of the 2016/17 campaign on the bench, with the Brazilian apparently offering the team more in the sense of work-rate and pressing the opposition.
As we told you previously, many supporters thought Sturridge would leave during the most recent transfer window in order to seek more first-team football, but the 28-year-old has stuck around and fought for his place, and was given the nod today at St. James’s Park.
But his languid and laid-back style hasn’t gone down well with supporters watching at home, many of whom hope he’ll be hauled off by Jurgen Klopp soon:
Sturridge just doesn't suit us anymore.

Sturridge has all the pace and strength of a wet paper towel. And not a premium one. The supermarkets value range.
