Michel Preud’homme is being heavily linked with the vacant managers post at Rangers – but a lot of the club’s supporters are of the opinion the Belgian would represent another gamble.
Considered one of the world’s best and most consistent goalkeepers during his playing days, Preud’homme was responsible for giving Jose Mourinho his first managerial job whilst director of football at Benfica in 2000, and has gone on to boss teams like Standard Liege and Club Brugge in an impressive coaching career.
According to the Daily Record, Preud’homme has applied for the Gers job and has even held talks with Dave King, just a few days after Pedro Caixinha was given his marching orders.
As a manager, Preud’homme has won the Belgian league twice, the Belgian Cup and the KNVB Cup in Holland – but his CV doesn’t count for much with a lot of supporters:
Michel Preud'homme looks like everybody's new favourite for the job. Good record in Belgium but something just says its another gamble.?⚪?

Sunday Mail says Michel Preud’homme wants to be Rangers manager. Massive mistake again if that’s where they go. Need a Birtish manager. #RFC

I know nothing of him. But Michel Preud’homme cv is indeed impressive. Still think the board go down McInnes route. Maybe Allen has input.

Another cheap option and definitely not what’s required

Not what we need now

What we need just now is someone that knows the Scottish game, what it's all about! Needs to be at least a British manager.

Do you really think we can afford to appoint another man that’s effectively unknown in this country given how Pedro was treated by the media

No more fucking experiments, we need to get McInnes in and stop fucking about.

Fuck bringing any foreigner in ataw

What do you think of the situation?
Do Rangers really need a British manager to transform their fortunes?
