Is it Time Celtic Named a Stand After Fergus McCann?

Liverpool named a stand after Kenny Dalglish yesterday and some Celtic supporters reckon it’s about time their club did the same for Fergus McCann.

Names like Sir Alex Ferguson, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher all congregated at Anfield over the weekend as ‘King Kenny’ was honoured with a little piece of his own history, with the new Kenny Dalglish Stand unveiled to the world.

But should McCann expect a similar, grandiose tribute? Well, McCann became owner of Celtic in March 1994 and is credited with saving the club from bankruptcy, and was responsible for restructuring the club and floating it as a plc on the London Stock Exchange.

He managed to raise £14 million that provided funding for the redevelopment of Celtic Park and is generally credited with having a massive influence in building the Hoops in their modern form – and there’s definitely supporters out there who’d be all for it:

What do you think of the reaction?

Would you be behind renaming a stand after Fergus McCann?
