Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has come to his team’s rescue this afternoon, with Liverpool looking increasingly dangerous at Anfield.
The first half has been a tight contest between the two Premier League giants, however, the home side are looking the more likely to break the deadlock.
And they might well have done so, had it not been for the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper.
Following a brilliant piece of skill, Roberto Firmino delivered an inch-perfect ball to the on-rushing Joel Matip.
The German defender’s effort may have had ‘goal’ written all over it, but De Gea had different ideas and miraculously saved the ball with his foot:
What an outstanding save by David DeGea at Anfield. Even Pat Jennings would have been proud of that one!#liverpoolvsmanutd pic.twitter.com/r4SlmeCGzX

De Gea’s quick reflexes mean United have taken a 0-0 draw into the half-time interval, a lucky break for Mourinho given Liverpool’s stranglehold on possession.
Where does De Gea rank alongside the top goalkeepers in the world?
Surely this save puts him right in contention with the very best?
