Video: Everton’s Wayne Rooney Scores a Brilliant Goal Against Arsenal

Everton raced into a lead against Arsenal this afternoon with Wayne Rooney rolling back the years to score an absolutely brilliant goal.

The Toffees are at their lowest ebb, perhaps for several years, after a wretched run of form saw them going into today’s fixture at Goodison Park just outside the relegation zone.

Manager Ronald Koeman saw his board back him with a massive £140 million transfer budget during the summer transfer window, and he was allowed to bring in some pretty high-profile players – notably, Rooney.

The team haven’t been up to much so far this season but Rooney seemed in the mood against the Gunners today, and he pounced on his first sight at goal:

That’s his 15th career goal against the team from North London – and their supporters must really hate the sight of him.

He might well be past his best, but Wayne Rooney still has some magic left in that right foot of his yet.
