The Danish forward was always an extremely confident character, even if he didn’t always quite have the talent to back-up some of the ludicrous claims he’d make in the press.
After leaving North London, Bendtner – who is still only 29 – has enjoyed fairly underwhelming spells with Juventus, Wolfsburg and Nottingham Forest, before ending up with his current club Rosenborg, the champions of Norway.
He was leading the line for Rosenborg in the tricky trip to Roberto Mancini’s Zenit Saint Petersburg and, to give him his due, he did provide a brilliant through-ball – but there was just one slight problem:

In the end, Zenit went on to win the match 3-1, and firmly put one foot into the knockout stages of the competition.
Unlucky, Nicklas. Chin up, son.
