Rashford and his United colleagues travelled to Lisbon to face the Portuguese champions knowing victory would all but secure a safe passage to the Champions League knockout stages.
But the first-half passed without much happening at all really, as Jose Mourinho’s side took up a defensive approach similar to the tactics employed against Liverpool at the weekend.
They did, however, manage to score the decisive goal in the 64th minute via Rashford – but the ball didn’t exactly hit the back of the net:

The goalkeeper in question is Mile Svilar, an 18-year-old making only his second appearance for the Benfica first-team tonight – and he’s the youngest-ever goalkeeper to play in the Champions League.
Poor lad, eh? It might take him a little while to forget about this clanger.
