Video: Patrice Evra Pleads With Man United Fans to Support the Team Like They Did in 2009

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has sent an emotional rallying call to the club’s fans, asking them to muster the same kind of support that they showed him and his team-mates in 2009.

United lost their first game of the season last weekend, as they were beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium, with Jose Mourinho slamming his team’s attitude after the final whistle.

That result, coupled with an uninspiring performance against Liverpool earlier this month has lead some United fans to question where the team is really going this season.

However, Evra has pleaded with supporters to give the players a boost, similar to the one they gave the team in 2009, after a humiliating defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Marseille defender was speaking on Stephen Howson FC, a popular Man United vlog, when he admitted to missing the club and recalled how the fans inspired the team to the title eight years ago:

United have a tricky match with Tottenham in tomorrow afternoon’s early kick-off, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side having won four of their last five league games.
