Martin Odegaard may have wandered into obscurity since joining Real Madrid, but the youngster was at his brilliant best for Norway’s U21s tonight.

The 18-year-old is currently on loan at Heerenveen, having struggled to adjust to the limelight at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And while the Dutch Eredivisie may be played at a lower standard than the super-competitive La Liga, Odegaard is clearly reaping the rewards – as he dismantled Germany’s highly-rated young stars this evening.

The former Stormgodset star not only hand his team the lead with an impressive finish but also produced a magical assist to secure the 3-1 victory:

In fact, it’s fair to say Odegaard was completely dominant during the 90 minutes and was unlucky not to score again after dancing past the German defence:

Odegaard will spend 18 months at Heerenveen before returning to Madrid, with it being reported that the Spanish club’s hierarchy are keen to tie the player down to long-term contract.
