Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has slammed suggestions that a “fear factor” could affect his players ahead of this weekend’s League Cup semi-final with Rangers.

Rangers have won five of their last seven games, which included an impressive 3-0 victory over St. Johnstone on Friday night.

However, during this afternoon’s press conference Robinson alluded to the improvement in form his team have shown this season.

The Steelmen lost 2-1 to Pedro Caixinha‘s side in their Scottish Premiership opener but have since picked up crucial victories against both Aberdeen and Hearts.

So, with Motherwell sitting just one point behind Rangers in the table, Robinson insists there’s no fear factor in his dressing room, even if people are already talking of an Old Firm League Cup final:

Robinson was also asked about the mood in the camp following a run of good results, to which he admitted he’s glad to have a grounded group of players who he won’t allow to get carried away.

Motherwell’s game with Rangers is scheduled to kick off at 2.30pm on Sunday at Hampden, while the other semi-final which sees Celtic play Hibs will take place on Saturday.
