Willie Collum actually made a pretty brilliant decision in Barcelona‘s win over Olympiacos tonight.
The Scottish referee was in charge at the Camp Nou for the game, complete with linesman Douglas Ross, who missed a universal credit debate at Westminster this afternoon so he could be involved.
SNP MP for Falkirk John McNally showed Theresa May a red card because of Ross’ absence – a moment that went viral across social media.
But despite the attention on the Scottish officials, they did a good job – and Collum produced a pretty brilliant decision to send off Gerard Pique after the defender handled the ball into the net in the first half.
It looks like he got a hand from fifth official John Beaton, but, regardless, it’s a very good decision:

Pique had already been on a yellow card, picked up earlier in the half for a late tackle – so Collum obviously had no choice after spotting the hand being used to put the ball into the net.
Collum is regularly criticised for his performances in Scottish football so it’s good to see him performing well at the highest level in Europe.
