David Moyes was officially paraded as the new West Ham United manager this afternoon, and he somehow managed to offend a lot of supporters at his former club Sunderland.
Moyes was in charge of the Black Cats throughout last season, taking over from Sam Allardyce in September 2016, but he could only watch on helplessly from the sidelines week after week as Sunderland were relegated from the Premier League.
Today, when he was asked about his time at the Stadium of Light, rather than taking responsibility for finishing bottom of the table, the former Everton and Manchester United boss sort of passed the buck – by claiming he didn’t do enough ‘due diligence’ behind the scenes.
Moyes: "I didn't do enough due diligence on @SunderlandAFC. I made a poor choice."

"I didn't do enough due diligence. I came back and made a poor choice in the club I chose."
David Moyes talking about #SAFC. Infuriating.

This was the squad he inherited. That's the form they were in. David, you're not the victim here mate. pic.twitter.com/mUjPrGDN4b

Now, Sunderland are currently 24th in the Championship table, and there’s absolutely no denying there’s plenty of issues going on behind the scenes there, but Moyes’s comments today really haven’t gone down too well with Sunderland fans:
It's never his fault , I've nothing against West ham but i just want them to fail miserably this season just so everyone knows it is moyes fault

Happy enough to steal a pay packet for 10 months though the absolute wank stain

David Moyes 'I made a really bad choice of club in Sunderland'
Yes, David… we did the same in a manager.— James Earl (@jamesdearl) November 8, 2017
Everyone said Moyes has a point to prove when he came to Sunderland, look how that ended up! The blokes a muppet!

Dear West Ham… David Moyes is a managerial charlatan – Good Luck!

David Moyes saying Sunderland was the ‘wrong choice’. This is the man who said ‘we’re in a relegation battle’ after the first game last season. I’d be a worried cockerney.

A little fact @WestHamUtd : 18.6 – Moyes' win percentage as Sunderland boss last season. The Black Cats finished bottom of the Premier League.
What makes him the ideal candidate for the job? Does he offer you a refund in case you finish last?

Moyes getting 2 million for 6 month contract. The football world has gone mad. Moyes bank manager is a happy man.

Dear David Moyes.. please take Rodwell & Gibson in January, you can even have them for free….Sincerely, Every Sunderland fan ever #safc

Not Moyes’ fault that he failed in every aspect of job at Sunderland, ignore the fact Sam had in top table form it was an impossible job …

These David Moyes ‘adnan, Phil, Leon, Jolson we’re getting the band back together again’ tweets are fucking dire. They weren’t funny at Sunderland and they’re sure as shit not funny now.

What do you make of the comments? And is Moyes the right man to lead West Ham away from the relegation zone?
