Can got on the scoresheet in the second half of his side’s 3-0 Champions League win over Maribor at Anfield last night, taking his goal tally for the club to 11.
Hamann has that same number of goals from his time as a Red, but hit that number in 283 games compared to Can’s 143 – as pointed out by Liverpool fan Liam Bekker.
It’s a pretty pointless stat so we were surprised to see it register with Hamann on social media this morning.
The former German midfielder quoted it on his timeline alongside a stat of his own – and you get the impression he didn’t care too much for the initial analysis:
Hamann is right of course – he won some impressive titles during his time at Anfield, including the 2005 Champions League and the UEFA Cup in 2001.
As for Can, he may have more goals, but he has zero Liverpool trophies. We obviously know what Hamann values more.
