Former Manchester City and Real Madrid winger Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in prison by an Italian court after being found guilty of sexual assault and nobody can quite believe it.
It’s being reported that the alleged assault took place back in 2013, when the ex-Brazil international was playing for Serie A giants AC Milan.
According to Football Italia, Robinho has been convicted of the sexual assault of a 22-year-old Albanian woman in a Milanese disco in 2013 – with five other men also being found guilty in the case.
And while the report adds that the 33-year-old will be given the opportunity to dispute his jail time, as the Italian law system allows for “several levels of appeal”, social media has been left in a state of total shock:
Can’t believe what’s happened to Robinho. A talent in football, played for Man City and Real Madrid, and now sentenced to 9 years in prison. ??Thoughts @MollyShep ?

Robinho won two La Liga titles with Madrid, a Serie A title with Milan and was once hailed as the successor to Pele for Brazilian football.
