Ian Poulter suffered one of the unluckiest golf shots of the year at the Turkish Airlines Open this week, with close pal and fellow Arsenal fan Piers Morgan reaching out to console him on social media.
The 2012 Ryder Cup hero was two off the pace after an impressive opening-round 66, however, he was brutally struck down at the fifth with an insane slice of bad luck.
After finding the fairway with precision, Poulter’s next effort breathtakingly clattered against the flag and veered towards the water.
As you’d expect, the shot was quickly all over social media, with Poulter posting this Tweet in response:

Luckily, Piers Morgan was on hand (yes, we did just say that) to send his commiserations to the 41-year-old, telling him that something as unlucky as this shot could only happen to an Arsenal fan at the moment:
This could only happen to an Arsenal fan at the moment. Commiserations mate.. ?? https://t.co/bQOq9vaTpk

Morgan and Poulter often vocalise their frustrations as Arsenal fans on social media, with this season proving no exception as Arsene Wenger’s side sit outside the Premier League top four and compete in the Europa League.
