David Silva signed a contract extension at Manchester City this afternoon, with the club’s fans overjoyed that one of their best ever players has been tied down.
The Spaniard’s new deal means he’s set to remain at the Premier League leaders until 2020… and will most likely add to his impressive haul of two league titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups.
In fact, Silva’s contribution has been so spectacular since he arrived from Valencia in 2010 that the club’s fans believe he may be the finest player to ever wear the light blue jersey.
Silva moved to the Etihad in 2010, while Roberto Mancini was still in charge, and has been an ever-present under both Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola.
The 31-year-old told City’s website, “I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved at City in my seven-and-a-half seasons here and with Pep in charge, I feel we are in a great position to win trophies this season and beyond.”
And it seems like the City fans are equally proud, having lavished the World Cup winner with praise:
Silva already has eight assists in 13 Premier League matches and also boasts an outstanding pass success percentage of 89.2%.
