Ainsley Maitland-Niles probably didn’t think it’d help his Arsenal first team chances when he nutmegged Arsene Wenger in training – but the manager actually seemed impressed.

The Gunners squad were training earlier ahead of their Europa League group game with Red Star Belgrade tomorrow night.

So the club’s media team had their cameras rolling to catch some footage from the session.

And they were on hand to see Maitland-Niles accidentally put the ball through his gaffer’s legs during a keepy-uppy session:

Maitland-Niles may have expected an angrier response from Wenger given the blatant act of disrespect.

But he saw the good side of it, telling the midfielder ‘well done’ after realising what had happened.

Maitland-Niles has made just six appearances for Arsenal’s first team this season – three of which have came in the Europa League.

So you should expect to see him in the team for tomorrow night’s game, where the Gunners will be aiming for a victory to seal their place in the knockout rounds of the competition.
