FC Koln may play their football in the German Bundesliga, but their club anthem seems to suggest they have a surprise affiliation with the Tartan Army.

Prior to tonight’s Europa League match against Arsenal at the RheinEnergieStadion, the FC Koln fans took to their feet and belted out an impressive rendition of the Runrig classic ‘The Bonnie Banks o’ Loch Lomond’.

The song is of course a regular at Hampden Park when Scotland are in action.

Granted, the German side have their own version in which the lyrics are subtly changed to “we stand by you, FC Koln”… but it makes for some impressive viewing nonetheless:

Despite the electric atmosphere provided by their fans, FC Koln are bottom of the German league, having picked up just two points in their opening 12 matches.

Their Europa League form makes for much better reading though, having earned a surprise victory over BATE Borisov in their last game, a result which keeps their dreams of reaching the next stage alive.
