Video: Stan Collymore Tells Martin O’Neill ‘You Should’ve Taken Me to Celtic’

Martin O’Neill and Stan Collymore have been taking a stroll down Memory Lane – with the former England striker admitting he’s wistful about not following his old manager to Celtic.

Ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s crucial World Cup playoff tonight, Collymore was in attendance at O’Neill’s final pre-match press conference, before the winner-takes-all showdown against Denmark tonight in Dublin.

O’Neill took Collymore to Leicester City back in the late 1990s, and he was a roaring success until he broke his leg.

But it turns out Collymore wanted one more spell with O’Neill before hanging up his boots, and was apparently keen to sample the Parkhead atmosphere with a stint at Celtic.

Collymore – who works as a pundit now for RT – tweeted the encounter earlier today:

Collymore at Celtic? Up-front with Larsson, Sutton and Hartson?

Now, that would’ve been a pretty fearsome quartet for any team on the continent to come up against, eh?

How do you think he would’ve fared in Scotland?
