A YouTuber decided to conduct an imaginative experiment this week, as he moved Celtic into the English Championship and replaced them with Cardiff City on Football Manager.
GoldenFM was aiming test how long it would take Brendan Rodgers’ side to earn promotion to English football’s top tier.
Equally, he was keen to find out whether Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds could dominate Scotland in Celtic’s absence or whether Rangers could become the best team in the country.
Needless to say, there were plenty of surprises along the way!
GoldenFM, which has over 33,000 subscribers, found that while Cardiff strolled to the title in their first year north of the border, Celtic struggled to adjust to Championship football.
Not only did Celtic sell Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair… they also sacked Rodgers after one season.
Mark Hughes, Mick McCarthy and former Celtic boss Tony Mowbray were all brought in and then sacked before the club earned promotion on the fourth attempt:
Meanwhile Rangers won the Scottish title three out of the four years in which Celtic were down south, while Cardiff steadily deteriorated into a mid-table club.
Is this sign of what could happen should one or both of the Old Firm teams make a move?
